All CEDC outpatient programs – including our Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) – are now being offered in-person and online, so that patients can receive treatment for their eating disorder in the comfort and safety of their own home. Most U.S. states, including Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and Maine, have passed laws that require health insurance coverage for telehealth behavioral health appointments. Some states allow that coverage only with providers residing within their state, while other states have extended that coverage to out-of-state providers. Each insurance plan is different; we recommend calling the telephone number on your insurance card or going to their web site to verify coverage options.
Our IOP is offered Monday through Friday from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm. Patients chose which three days each week they would prefer to attend and will experience a therapeutic supervised dinner meal on each of those three days. Each patient is matched with a Case Manager/Therapist who checks in with them once a week to monitor progress and answer questions. Some patients start IOP with an outpatient treatment team in place that may include a dietician, therapist, and primary care clinician. The Case Manager coordinates and communicates with the patient’s outside treatment team to ensure all parties are on the same page. If a patient enters IOP without a treatment team, the Case Manager provides referrals to providers who will work with the patient on building the road to recovery. Eating disorder treatment is multimodal and may include: Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT); Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT); Exposure Therapy, among others.
Admission interviews and insurance verification is handled over the telephone. Our caring clinicians and dedicated staff employ evidence-based clinical interventions that allow for skill-building, behavior reduction and management, insight development, and enhanced motivation. Our therapeutic approach encompasses the patient, the patient’s family, and the patient’s other key healthcare providers.
