Iva Jandova, MD
Medical Director
Iva Jandova, M.D., a psychiatrist with more than two decades of experience working with children, adolescents and adults, has joined CEDC as Medical Director.
Dr. Jandova is double board-certified in child and adolescent psychiatry. She did her postdoctoral training in child and adolescent psychiatry at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH, where she was chief resident. She has been an Instructor in Psychiatry at Havard Medical School and Dartmouth Medical School.
Her experience has always been working at acute care hospitals such as Boston Children’s Hospital where she worked on an inpatient unit where many patients were diagnosed with eating disorders. Once they were medically stable, patients were stepping down to acute residential treatment centers such as CEDC, or, being referred to BCH from lower levels of care for additional medical treatment.
“I enjoyed learning about children and adolescents in my training and then I enjoyed helping them overcome the many challenges they have to deal with through their developmental stages,” Dr. Jandova said. “When you treat a population at an earlier age, such as for eating disorders, you have better outcomes for adulthood. So, I became interested in making a difference in the lives of children and adolescents.”
While Dr. Jandova has spent her career working at hospitals, she is enjoying her role leading the medical team at CEDC where she interacts with a multidisciplinary team including nurses, social workers, psychologists, licensed mental health clinicians, registered dietitians, and residential counselors, all supporting clients on their road to recovery.
“I really like the people who work here,” Dr. Jandova said. “We have such a dedicated team, and the leaders are knowledgeable and committed to customizing solutions for our clients and their families,” Dr. Jandova said. “We treat patient with all kinds of eating disorders, from anorexia and bulimia to binge eating disorder and ARFID, and the scale of CEDC makes for a homey, college dorm-type environment where clients feel safe to do the hard work of recovery.”
