Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
POSITION SUMMARY:
Provide direct care: assessment, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and management of psychiatric medications for up to 12 residential patients
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Write medication orders in compliance with DMH Medication Administration Program (MAP)
- Provide peer-to-peer reviews and assist with appeals for denial of care for patients
- Works collaboratively with Psychiatrist to provide medication management for patients, assist in management of patients with psychosocial or psychiatric problems
- Provides education to the patient and his/her family as well as participates in informal education of staff at the CEDC Attends to patient’s minor medical complications for all levels of care.
- Provides direct care including assessment, diagrams, treatment planning, crisis intervention, and medication management for patients when clinically indicated.
- Provide consultation regarding patient psychiatric issues to multidisciplinary treatment team
- Be available for crisis consultation during psychiatric emergencies and provide occasional coverage/consultation during the absence of patient’s primary provider
- Participate in family therapy as needed to educate parents and supports regarding medication recommendations
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient meetings and interventions in accordance with organizational policies and state regulations
- Attend twice weekly clinical rounds
- Work closely with organizational leaders to improve and implement safe and effective psychiatric protocols
- Maintain collateral contact with outpatient medical providers as necessary
- Maintain current knowledge of relevant research
- Other duties as requested.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:
- Must be certified by the ANCC (American Nurses Credential Center) as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Must be certified by the Board of Registration in Nursing as Nurse Practitioner in Psychiatry
- Experience and comfort working with both adults and adolescents
- Training and experience in the treatment of eating disorders
- Excellent clinical communication skills, both verbal and written
- Strong organizational skills
- Willingness to practice collaboratively and respectfully within a multi-disciplinary team including licensed therapists, psychiatrists, registered dieticians, and support staff
- Experience with peer-to-peer reviews with third party payers preferred
Clinical Admissions Manager
CEDC – Cambridge, MA
Enthusiastic, team-oriented professional to fill our Clinical Admissions Manager position in our Cambridge, MA location. The Clinical Admissions Manager works closely with our multidisciplinary team, including Medical Director, Nutrition Department, Intake Coordinator and other clinical staff to ensure that new patients have a smooth transition to our residential program.
This is a full-time, 9:00-5:30, Monday through Friday position.
Required Qualifications
- Licensed clinician (LICSW, Psy.D., Ph.D., or LMHC)
- Excellent attention-to-detail
- Confident, articulate and personable
- Comfortable working with patients and families in person and over the telephone
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel

- Ability to work independently.

The Clinical Admissions Manager is an integral part of each patient’s transition to our residential program. The position requires compassion, dedication and a sense of responsibility. Patients are often anxious or ambivialent when taking the next step in their recovery process and any initial disruptions can negatively impact their care.
Responsibilities
- Complete the clinical intake assessment over the telephone, in-person or over Zoom
- Assess incoming referrals (from patients and facilities) for appropriate level of care needs
- Provide weekly follow up with up to 50 patients who are on the waitlist
- Coordinate with internal and external medical providers to ensure each referred patient’s medical stability for residential level of care by ensuring receipt of requested labs, EKG, and medical clearance forms prior to scheduling an admission.
- Obtain insurance authorization for all new admissions prior to the patient admission
- Ensure billing office is provided correct insurance information in a timely manner
- Coordinate and maintain communication with referring facilities and doctors regarding CEDC services
- Ensure clear and timely completion of documentation required for all admissions
- Coordinate with our Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient programs to step patients up to residential level of care, as needed
- Greet and welcome patients and their families upon arrival, review program parameters with them, complete paperwork and process how they are feeling about admissions day
- Train and on-board clinical staff on clinical assessment and admissions processes

Residential Counselor:

Required Qualifications:
- BA/BS or Associates (Social Sciences/Psychology preferred)
- MAP Certification preferred

At Cambridge Eating Disorder Center we are dedicated to helping adult and adolescent women rebuild their lives. The Residential Counselor (RC) role is a challenging and meaningful position, ideal for recent graduates looking to gain clinical experience towards a career in the field of psychology, social work, or healthcare. The ideal candidate is hard-working, compassionate, and eager to learn. RCs are an integral part of our multi-disciplinary treatment team which includes psychiatrists, psychiatric nurse practitioners, registered dieticians, psychologists, and licensed clinical social workers. RCs receive intensive training to perform the following responsibilities:
Emotional Support
- Help patients develop coping skills and distraction techniques to manage ED urges.
- Facilitate therapeutic groups that are commensurate with RC level of training and experience.
- Use active listening skills to individually process day-to-day issues that patients struggle with (meal/behavior noncompliance on and off the unit, self-doubt, body consciousness).
- Provide psycho-education about eating disorders and related issues to patients and their familial/social support system.
- Promote appropriately supportive relationships between patients.
Medical Supervision
- Correctly weigh patients. Take, accurately interpret, and document vital signs (i.e., blood pressure, pulse).
- Supervise therapeutic meals and snacks following approved guidelines
- Supervise bathroom and shower use for patients according to each patient’s assigned supervision level.
- Escort clients to offsite medical appointments and ER visits (via taxi or uber; no driving necessary)
- Administer medications, after becoming MAP certified
Safety Concerns
- Possess a clear understanding of emergency procedures, including how to quickly access emergency contact information for each patient.
- Remain vigilant! Check on assigned patients frequently.
- Conduct thorough contraband searches.
- Promptly communicate with patient’s treatment team, (e.g., psychiatrist, case manager, nutritionist) regarding client care issues and concerns.
- Carefully and thoroughly document all clinically relevant information regarding patient behavior (e.g., completing Meal and Snack logs, Group Notes, Shift Progress Notes, and Incident Reports, etc.) in a timely manner.
- Attend the required number of RC Supervision meetings (at least 24 hours a year for full- time employees; at least 12 hours a year for part-time employees—starting from the date of hire). If unable to attend, follow-up with an RC supervisor as soon as possible.

Responsibilities:
- Orient patient to the program rules and parameters of the Case Manager’s relationship with the patient

- Assist families in implementing behavioral strategies

- Develop and update treatment plans
- Collaborate with patient providers and other outpatient providers
- Complete clinical documentation as required for the appropriate level of care
- Conduct concurrent reviews with insurance companies

Diet Technician
Diet Technician Qualifications
B.S. in Nutrition – Knowledge of food safety preferred. Knowledge of food ordering and inventory management
Responsibilities:
- Review/edit patients’ menus for the upcoming week to ensure that chosen foods comply with the patient’s meal plan. Write in appropriate portion sizes as needed
- Assist patients with planning passes to include meals/snacks as appropriate for patient’s meal plan
- Plan and conduct weekly cooking projects with patients
- Plan weekly baking projects for residential counselors to perform with patients
- Update fluid chart in the kitchen per dietician fluid recommendations
- Assist dietician with any other duties as needed
